Copyright info for ICBL Image Library and other visual material on the ICBL website

Photos and other images on the ICBL website and Image Library are generally free for use by ICBL country campaigns and others working in full support of the ban on anti personnel landmines, as long as the photographer is fully credited and ICBL is credited by listing the ICBL web site link (http://www.icbl.org). However, some of our photos are used for special purposes, such as the Landmine Monitor Report cover photos, and since they are strongly associated with those reports and for one time use only, these photos cannot be used for other purposes.

We therefore request that you check with ICBL at the contact details listed below to make sure you have our permission to use any image in our library. Please tell us which image/s you would like to use (consider using the "My Album" feature) and for what purpose. We will then give approval for their use or explain why, if we cannot approve. If you require the image for use in a publication, please send ICBL a copy of the publication once it is complete.

Any commercial use of the images should be verified with the photographers themselves, see information below. If ICBL is listed as copyright holder then contact us.

Permission to use the photographs for non-profit purposes can be obtained from: icbl@icbl.org - further details

Mercedes Sayagues is a journalist from Uruguay, who has lived in Zimbabwe since 1992. While covering Angola and Mozambique, she saw first hand the misery caused by landmines. "When you interview or photograph survivors, there is something in their gaze that chills your heart, lodges there, and you can't shake it off. Perhaps an unspoken question: how can people do this to others? You can't just walk away and forget. It's not just another story. You want to help rid the world of this horror."

She has been an activist with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines since 1996.
