The Intersessional Standing Committee meetings of the Mine Ban Treaty will take place this year from 13-17 June in Geneva. These meetings will be particularly important as they will provide the first opportunity to discuss States Parties' implementation of the Nairobi Action Plan .
All documentation for the meetings – including the invitation letter sent to governments, agenda, calendar of meetings, registration form, and guide to the week of meetings – is available on the website of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).
If you are planning to attend, please register online with the GICHD and inform Tamar Gabelnick, ICBL Treaty Implementation Director ( tamar@icbl.org). The deadline for registration is 6 June. All participants are required to register.
As part of your preparations for the meetings, we recommend that you read the Final Report of the Nairobi Summit, including the Nairobi Review 1999-2004 (which provides a comprehensive review of the work done to date and the progress made during the first five years of the Convention) and the Nairobi Action Plan 2005-2009 (which will serve as the basis for much of the June discussions).
Three updates about the meetings have been sent to all ICBL campaigners. They can all be found, along with the schedule, through the links on the right side of this page. For additional inquiries regarding the intersessional week please contact Tamar ( tamar@icbl.org).
Reminder to non-sponsored participants: please make your hotel reservations on your own, if you have not yet done so. The Geneva Tourism site has a list of hotels.
