Starting on 1 March 2010, which marked the 11th anniversary of the entry into force of the Mine Ban Treaty, ICBL campaigners have been contacting U.S. embassies in 60 countries/areas around the world to request meetings to talk about the ongoing U.S. policy review on landmines and to urge the U.S. Administration to join the Mine Ban Treaty without delay. In March and April, meetings have been held in the following list of countries/areas. In addition, in four countries where meetings could not be arranged, campaigners have sent letters to the embassies calling on the U.S. to ban landmines and join the treaty.

The ICBL's global action on the USA complemented ongoing domestic advocacy efforts of the United States Campaign to Ban Landmines (USCBL). On 22 March, leaders of 65 non-governmental organizations in the U.S. delivered a letter to President Obama. (See the USCBL press release.)
