WHAT: Media events - 6th Meeting of States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty

1) Immediately following end of 6MSP, approximately 12 :00-13:00, 6MSP Closing Press Conference, Zagreb Fair Ground, Conference Room #1, Hangar 7

Interview/Photo opportunities:

  • Speaking at the press conference will be: ICBL Ambassador and Nobel Co-Laureate, Jody Williams; Dijana Plestina, Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs ; Enrique Roman-Morey, UN Secretary-General Representative; and Peter Herby of the Mine Action Unit of the ICRC will share their respective views on the outcomes of the 6MSP.

2) Immediately following the press conference, approximately 12 :30-13 :00, Mines for Vines/Roots for Peace “Toast for Peace” , Handicraft Village, Exhibition Hall, Zagreb Fair Ground, Hanger 7,

Nobel Co-Laureate, Jody Williams, will join Roots of Peace Founder, Heidi Kuhn, and Dijana Plestina, Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to raise a glass for peace surrounded by 6MSP delegates from around the world including landmine survivors and youth. The toast will also recognize the importance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to the global anti-personnel mine movement, which takes place the following day on December 3rd and coincides with the day the Ottawa Convention first opened for signature eight years ago.

  • Interview opportunity with Roots for Peace founder and CEO, Heidi Kuhn on their mine clearance initiatives in Croatia and Afghanistan.
