Official Documents

The Nairobi Action Plan

All of the other official documents can be found at www.nairobisummit.org . On this page we highlight some of the most important ones. It is important that in Nairobi, States Parties adopt a strong, visionary declaration and a concrete action programme that will ensure the job started in 1997 is indeed completed in the coming period. At each step, for each draft and at each preparatory meeting the ICBL has provided input and encouraged campaigns to ensure their governments do likewise. See Countdown Nairobi! for specific suggestions made during the course of the year.

Revised drafts of the documents were sent to all States Parties through their Geneva missions the first week of November. Previous drafts had been sent the first week of September, and were discussed at the 24 September informal meeting that President-Designate Ambassador Petritsch convened in Geneva to prepare the Nairobi Summit. Ambassador Petritsch then requested input on the draft documents in writing by 4 October. After receipt of this input, Ambassador Petritsch sent these revised drafts which will serve as the basis of discussion the first three days in Nairobi.

The current drafts are available in English only, with translations to be made available soon.
