Every year, there is a United Nations General Assembly resolution in support of the total ban on antipersonnel landmines and the Mine Ban Treaty.

The ICBL-CMC calls on states to use the UN General Assembly and its First Committee each fall in New York, to take the following actions:

Ratify or accede to the Convention on Cluster Munitions and/or the Mine Ban Treaty at the annual UN Treaty Event where both treaties are being promoted.

Promote universalization and implementation of the Convention on Cluster Munitions and/or the Mine Ban Treaty by making special reference to these conventions in speeches at the UNGA high-level segment and First Committee discussions on conventional weapons.

Vote in favour of the annual UNGA Resolution on the Mine Ban Treaty.

In 2012, UNGA draft resolution 67/L.8 received in First Committee 165 votes in favour, none against and 19 countries abstained.
In 2011, UNGA resolution 66/29 received 162 votes in favour, none against and 18 countries abstained.
In 2010, UNGA resolution 65/48 received 165 votes in favour, none against and 17 countries abstained.
In 2009, UNGA resolution 64/56 received 160 votes in favour, none against and 18 countries abstained.
In 2008, UNGA resolution 63/42 received 163 votes in favour, none against and 18 countries abstained.
In 2007, UNGA resolution 62/41, received 164 votes in favour, none against and 18 countries abstained.
In 2006, UNGA resolution 61/84 received 161 votes in favour, none against and 17 countries abstained.
In 2005, UNGA resolution 60/80, received 158 votes in favour, none against and 17 countries abstained.
In 2004, UNGA resolution 59/84 received 157 votes in favour, none against and 22 countries abstained.
In 2003, UNGA resolution 58/53, received 153 votes in favour, none against and 23 countries abstained.
In 2002, UNGA resolution 57/74, received 143 votes in favour, none against and 23 countries abstained.
In 2001, UNGA resolution 56/24M, received 138 votes in favour, none against and 19 countries abstained.
In 2000, UNGA resolution 55/33V, received 143 votes in favour, none against and 22 countries abstained.
In 1999, UNGA resolution 54/54 B, received 139 votes in favour, one against and 20 countries abstained.
In 1998, UNGA resolution 53/77 N, received 147 votes in favour, none against and 21 countries abstained.
In 1997, UNGA resolution 52/38 A, received 142 votes in favour, none against and 18 countries abstained.
