Burma/Myanmar: Peace Talks Should Include Landmine Issue

As negotiations between the Burma/Myanmar ruling authorities and ethnic armed opposition group Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) took place in Yangon, the Thailand Campaign to Ban Landmines urged both parties to include in their talks measures to alleviate the suffering caused by landmines.

Challenges of Universalization in Asia

With ratification by Brunei Darussalam on 24 April 2004, States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty reached a total of 151. Yet, universalization of the mine ban remains a big challenge in Asia, home to almost half of the countries still outside the Treaty.
