Interim Measures

Interim steps that states can take on the road towards accession to the treaty include the following.

At the national level:

  • adopting a moratorium on production, export, use;
  • providing information about anti-personnel mine stockpiles and starting plans for stockpile destruction;
  • assisting landmine survivors, their families and communities;
  • engaging in mine clearance and mine risk education where needed;
  • drafting national legislation or other process needed for accession (by states not party) or ratification (by the remaining two signatories);
