The Cartagena Summit on a Mine-Free World was held in Colombia from 29 November - 4 December 2009. Hundreds of representatives of States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty, some states not party, international organizations, United Nations agencies, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the ICBL participated in the Summit. They reviewed the status of the treaty and set out steps that need to be taken to create a mine-free world. ICBL campaigners from throughout the world, including mine survivors, participated actively and made the voice of civil society heard.
