Good practices for the economic integration of mine survivors and people with disabilities. Report on a survey. Description: Handicap International is implementing a study on good practices for the economic integration of people with disabilities. The study focuses on self-employment activities, access to financing mechanisms and the inclusion of people with disabilities into mainstream micro finance programs. The final outcome of the project will be a framework document highlighting good practices, strategies, tools, and operational methods that guarantee the efficiency and sustainability of self employment activities for people with disabilities and the appropriate use of micro credit to finance them. The first phase of the project consisted of a literature review and collection of information on economic integration projects that have involved disabled and/ or vulnerable people. During this phase a survey was sent to organizations of/for people with disabilities, international NGOs involved in micro finance and specialized MFI's to get a good overview of experiences with IGA and in particular micro credit and inclusion in mainstream MFI-programs .Handicap International will report on the outcomes of this first phase of the study.

Maps reading : another way to see the evolution of the mine problem Map is a tool to give information of course, about any subject. In these times when so much information come and disappear as tides, I wanted to find a mean to stay and understand quietly a question. Mapping offers this mean to take the good distance on a problem: everything is a question of scale.Everybody uses maps, few people know exactly how and by who these maps are done. Also, maps reflect wills and technologies of their period. And they are not as often used as they should be. Map becomes a way to understand any fact, from any discipline through another angle of approach. Briefing/discussion: provide participants ways to use maps and to read them, how to compare from a year to another, how maps reading can help you building your understanding of the evolution of a situation. Example will be taken using Maps of the region and LM maps over the years.
