The manual, "Assessing Landmine Impact at the Community Level", has been written to cater to the training needs of field staff who have substantial operational knowledge but little academic or impact-assessment experience. It has been designed for trainers who have experience in humanitarian or development-related training, and who have some knowledge of HMA. The manual contains lecture guides, trainee handouts, exercises, simulations and exams. The Assistance to Mine-Affected Communities project (AMAC) undertakes studies of communities affected by landmines in order to explore the potential offered by local resources and local competence in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA).
