Take action on campus

Many students and other young people across the globe are already involved in the campaign against landmines. You too can take action for a mine-free world!

Take action

  1. Join a letter-writing campaign.
  2. Arrange a film show or art exhibition on landmines. See our online libraries of images.
  3. Organise a public protest to urge non-members to join the Mine Ban Treaty and users of landmines to stop.
  4. Help raise money for our activities for a mine-free world.
  5. Take part in a theatre event to raise awareness of the effects of mines on communities.
  6. Hold a vigil for those killed and maimed by landmines every day.
  7. Host a conference on landmines.
  8. Set up an information table to distribute material and raise awareness.
  9. Make a presentation to your class or community.
  10. Find out more about the issue. Volunteer, intern or work for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines or one of our members.
  11. See 10 things YOU can do for a mine-free world! for action ideas and related resources.

Get others to join you in taking action!

  • Invite other youth to join you in taking action. Involve peers in your student group, social club, fraternity/sorority, faculty or class.
  • Use campus events or activities in your community to gather support for the campaign, spread awareness and raise money - e.g. parties, social evenings, registration/enrollment, graduations or concerts.

Get the message into your campus media!

  • Write an article on the landmines issue for your student newspaper, ask them to do a photo feature on the issue, write a letter to the editor, organise an interview or news piece on the issue for campus radio.
  • For information on working with the media, see So you want to publicise your campaign from the ICBL Campaign Kit. Also, see the section, Get publicity here.
