About

The current ICBL site runs on a dedicated Linux/Apache server provided by Gossamer Host. The same server also provides webservices for ICBL conuntry campaigns and some other related initiatives. The Content Management System used is eZ Publish by eZ Systems.

The illustrative image found in the top right corner was taken by Tim Grant in 1997. The caption for the picture is as follows:

"Slipper" These prosthetic legs are ready to be fitted to their new owners on the next day. The owners personalities can be seen in their choice of shoe. Kuito. Angola. 1997.

Some history

The ICBL website was first setup in May 1998 by Tim Grant and Kjell Knudsen . Hosting and assistance were provided by Norwegian People's Aid. At first the site was hosted by Hypermart, then later by Freedom2Surf before it was moved to a dedicated server with Gossamer Host.

From 1998 until spring 2004 the site was run using a simple design setup by Kjell Knudsen mostly using plain HTML files but also including some adapted solutions for news management. In 2003 the decision to setup a Content Management System for the whole site was made and eZ Publish was chosen. This revised site was launched in August 2004.
