The "Brussels International Conference for the Total Ban on Anti-Personnel Landmines," held from 24-27 June 1997 in Brussels,Belgium, was a key event in the Mine Ban Treaty negotiation process.A total of 150 governments participated, of which 110 countries signedthe "Brussels Declaration" pledging to negotiate the Mine Ban Treatyin Oslo and to sign the treaty in December. This report also includesbrief reports on the outcome of diplomatic meetings held earlier in1997 in Vienna, Austria from 12-14 February and in Bonn, Germanyfrom 24-25 April.
