The Swiss Campaign to Ban Landmines is delighted to announce the launch of the report, “Gender and Landmines – From Concept to Practice”, which studies the significance of gender in the impact and the effectiveness of mine action. It gives the reader an overview, together with concrete examples, on how gender can be mainstreamed in mine action.
The publication is a result of field research in the countries of Colombia, Lebanon, Mozambique, Sri Lanka and Sudan, and the gathering of good practices from the fields where gender mainstreaming has been successful. It discusses gender in each of the four selected pillars within mine action and provides suggested recommendations for the various stakeholders.
The publication shows that when a gender perspective is applied on mine action, all actors generally benefit. It further emphasises how little it takes to gender mainstream, and how gender is doable by small means.
Copies of the report, available in three languages (English, French and Spanish), is available upon request. We also invite you to visit the programme web portal at www.scbl-gender.chto download a copy of the publication.
