International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) member andconference host, Mines Action Canada (MAC), prepared this report ofNGO activities for the "Anti-personnel Mine Ban Treaty SigningConference," held in Ottawa, Canada in December 1997. A total of 122government leaders signed the treaty in a two-day ceremony openedby Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Foreign Minister LloydAxworthy, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, InternationalCommittee of the Red Cross President Cornelio Sommaruga and theICBL's Jody Williams. This report includes documents from theICBL/MAC Press Kit, public events and a report of the NGO forum heldfrom 6-7 December.
