Mine Ban Treaty Signing Conference

International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) member and
conference host, Mines Action Canada (MAC), prepared this report of
NGO activities for the "Anti-personnel Mine Ban Treaty Signing
Conference," held in Ottawa, Canada in December 1997. A total of 122
government leaders signed the treaty in a two-day ceremony opened
by Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Foreign Minister Lloyd
Axworthy, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, International
Committee of the Red Cross President Cornelio Sommaruga and the
ICBL's Jody Williams. This report includes documents from the
ICBL/MAC Press Kit, public events and a report of the NGO forum held
from 6-7 December.
