Barbados signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, ratified on 26 January 1999, and the treaty entered into force on 1 July 1999. It is not believed to have enacted domestic implementing legislation. On 12 July 2001, Barbados informed Landmine Monitor that it had submitted its initial Article 7 transparency report to the United Nations, but the UN Department of Disarmament Affairs has not received the report.[1] Barbados cosponsored and voted in support of pro-ban UN General Assembly Resolution 56/24M in November 2001. Barbados has never produced, stockpiled, transferred, or used antipersonnel mines, and is not mine-affected.[2]
