Barbados

Barbados signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, ratified on 26 January 1999, and the treaty entered into force on 1 July 1999. It is not believed to have enacted domestic implementing legislation. Barbados sponsored and voted in support of pro-ban UN General Assembly Resolution 57/74. Barbados submitted its initial Article 7 transparency report on 12 May 2003, in which it stated, “The Barbados Defence Force has not used, stockpiled, produced or transferred anti-personnel landmines in the past year. Neither has the Force participated in any mine clearance or disposal missions or tasks.” [1]
