CHIM PHAN, CYCLO CAMPAIGNER WINS SILVER MEDAL
Chim Phan from Centre of the Dove Cambodia won the silver medal at the Asian Fespic games yesterday in the hundred metre sprint. He lost aleg to a landmine a few years ago. Now he works training other disabled as a carpenter.
In 1997 he rode a cyclo from Paris to Brussels campaigning against landmines along with other disabled landmine survivors from Cambodia, Bosnia, Angola,Thailand. They carried The leaders of US, Russia, UK and France in their cyclos to help them decide to ban mines. Phan calls on President Clinton and President Yeltsin to hurry up or they will miss their chance for any medal, gold ,silver or bronze from the victims of landmines."Ban mines today and give the children of tomorrow a mine free world. We want them to run with their own legs not ones made of plastic or wood or tin or old bombs! Come on Clinton ! You can win too!!!"
