Fifth Shoe Pyramid against landmines on line!

Handicap International will give an international dimension to the fifth Shoe Pyramid against landmines, which will be held September, 25th, 1999 by putting it on line ! Visitors will be able to communicate with our teams in the field, and other actors of the ICBL, including mine victims and deminers, through computers equipped with webcams, which will be at their disposal.

Five or Six webcams will be dispatched between Paris, Lyon, Luxembourg, Bosnia, Cambodia and Mozambique. A video production team will be working from CANAL WEB studios, the first television on the net, where the panel will also be settled. During two or three hours, different guests and speakers will be present and internauts worlwide will be able to go from one place to another, listen to our guests in the field, and follow debates in Paris. Internauts will also have the possibility to react directly through the chat.

The internet has been used by the ICBL for a long time now and has proved to be a fantastic tool to develop the Campaign and help it to reach its objectives. This event will both offer a possibility for any citizen to take the floor and have a direct contact with the field : this has always been essential for Handicap International.
