Chris Moon runs in Japan!

Purpose of Run

To Raise Public Awareness for

  • landmine problem itself
  • difficult life of survivors
  • the Mine Ban Treaty and one of its obligation, stockpike destruction
  • the fact that Japanese stockpile is now under destruction in Shin Asahi town where Chris runs

To Raise Fund for

  • AAR 's vocational training center for the victims and disabled in Cambodia
  • AAR/HALO's mine clearance operation in Afghanistan and Kosovo.

How to join the event

Chris himself runs from Kyoto to Shin Asahi for 70kms.
However, for those who want to participate in, there are several courses of running, e.g, 1.2km, 3 km, 5km.

The participants pay 1000JPY(=about 10US$) to registrate, from which, US$6 will go for donation for above mentioned project of AAR.

Characteristics

This charity run is organized and co-sponsored by AAR Japan and a municipality, Shin-asahi town, where Aebano workshop of Asahi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd is situated. The company made a contract with Japanese government to destroy 70% of stockpiles and all the destruction of the company will take place in the workshop in Shin Asahi town.

Asahi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd with 3 other commercial companies will fund and cover a part of the cost.

The schedule of the Chris Moon Charity Event organized by AAR is as follows;

November 24 14:00 Visit to the site of Japanese stockpile destruction in Shiga 15:00 Seminar by Chris Moon

November 25 Chris Moon Charity Run from Kyoto to Shiga 7:00 Departure from Hieizan Enryakuji which is one of the oldest as well as the most famous temples 16:00 Arrival at Shinasahi-town where Japanese stockpile are being destroyed

Chris Moon rests during his 250 km run from Bathurst to Sydney (Australia) to raise funds and awareness for mine survivors and demining
