Concerns related to States Parties
(Friday 28 February 2003 )
In particular, the ICBL is concerned about the stockpiling and possible transiting of U.S antipersonnel mines in territories of States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty.
U.S. antipersonnel mines are stockpiled in five States Parties: Germany, Japan, Norway, Qatar and the United Kingdom at Diego Garcia. The territory of States Parties such as Qatar (a possible headquarters for the U.S. for an attack on Iraq) could be used for transiting U.S. antipersonnel mines.
