Resources Intern

The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), 1997 Nobel Peace Prize Co-laureate, is a coalition of over 1300 member organizations in 80 countries working to ban landmines and support mine clearance and victim assistance projects. The ICBL has a small staff working worldwide, with two staff members located in its Washington, DC office.

The ICBL is currently seeking one energetic and organized individual to intern at the Washington, DC office on Capitol Hill from January- April 2004. The position can be either part-time or full time, flexible hours and is unsalaried. The ICBL covers Metro fare to get to and from the office.

The Resources Intern will be responsible for working with ICBL staff to create a CD ROM with documents and resources illustrating the history of the mine ban movement. This will involve selecting and scanning documents, preparing CD layout, writing and updating written documents, etc. In addition, the intern will also be responsible for storing and caring for archival resources at the ICBL office.

We are looking for university students with:

  • Activist experience and a strong desire to work towards a mine-free world;
  • Superb English written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organization skills;
  • Strong research skills;
  • Strong computer skills including experience using scanners and Adobe Acrobat;
  • The ability to take initiative on projects and work independently with little supervision;
  • Patience; and,
  • The ability to be creative, flexible and adaptable.
