On the streets of Cape Town... Ad agency TBWA/Fusion has mounted this campaign in South Africa for International Day of Disabled Persons on 3 December. This date is also the anniversary of the opening for signature of the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. 10 December is the sixth anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize award to Jody Williams and the ICBL.     Write to your local newspaper, call up a talk radio station, send this page to your friend. Publicity ideas and tips.

    3. Lobby the powers that be!

    Call your MP, write to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (or similar), contact an embassy. Ask what is being done to promote and implement that 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Urge high level representation at the first Review Conference, the 2004 Nairobi Summit on a Mine Free World. See this action alert for more details about lobbying messages.
