Campaign Kit |
The kit is ideal for new campaigns who are looking for information on how to go about establishing their anti-landmine campaign AND for more established ones who want to use new and different techniques and train new members.
From planning and evaluating your campaign to organising a conference, and from lobbying decision makers to organising a vigil… these are all covered in the kit which is available from the ICBL resource centre.
The campaign kit also has an online version.
The kit consists of 6 booklets:
So you want to plan and evaluate your campaign?
This includes information on setting your campaign goals, defining your message, building alliances and analysing your campaign. So you want to organise a public event?
Practical information is given on arranging tables, marches, vigils, pickets and exhibitions.
So you want to lobby decision makers?
Outlined in this section are: tips for successful lobbyists, ideas on who to lobby and how to go about it.So you want to order resources on landmines?
Sources of information on the landmine issue in books, reports, CD rom and websites are listed here and details on how to order the materials are included here.So you want to publicise your campaign?
Getting your message out is important and this booklet looks are who to talk to in the media (including a section on media lists and developing contacts), press releases, media conferences, interviews, letters to the editor and producing campaign materials (such as posters and stickers). So you want to hold a landmines conference?
Based on the ICBL’s experience of organising numerous successful conferences, seminars and workshops this section looks at everything you need to know to continue organising these events which help us network, educate our members, strategise for future actions and lobby government. Included in this booklet are sections on: getting started, budgets and proposals, staff and volunteers, guests, programme content, logistics and reports.
The campaign package is designed so that you can dip into it and look up different topics that interest you. It is not necessarily meant to be read from cover to cover.
The pack covers strategic and practical aspects of for example organising a landmines conference or holding a press conference. Most sections in the pack have checklists, samples of relevant documents (such as registration forms) and easy to follow "how to do" lists.
The kit can be used as the basis for training workshops and seminars. You may want to plan a series of workshops which tie up with your planned activities for the year. For example, you could have a presentation and discussion around planning for your campaign before a planning meeting, or a session on publicising your campaign before you hold a media conference. The kit can also be used as part of an induction programme for new staff or volunteers, for example if you are organising a conference.
Some campaigns have expressed interest in translating the pack which will help to make it more relevant to local campaigners. So far French, Spanish and Arabic versions have been printed. Comments on the kit are also welcome. Please contact Liz Bernstein, banemnow@icbl.org.
The campaign kit is available in an online version and from the ICBL (your order will be handled by our nearest resource focalpoint). To order, please complete the following form and click the submit button at the bottom of the page.
