Released in April 1997, this short report by Human Rights Watch identifies 47 United States companies engaged in the manufacturing of components for use in antipersonnel mines. Seventeen of these companies renounced their involvement in landmine production prior to publication of the report and a 'stigmatization' campaign was subsequently launched by the United States Campaign to Ban Landmines to press recalcitrant companies. "Exposing the Source" is still widely referred to within the landmine community.
