With a focus on increasing universalization of the Mine Ban Treaty in
Asia, the "Fifth Meeting of States Parties to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty"
(5MSP) took place from 15-19 September 2003 in Bangkok, Thailand,
a mine-affected country. The meeting was characterized by high
participation, particularly by non states parties, as a total of 119
governments attended, and a cooperative and positive sense of
purpose. This report includes all official meeting documents, provides
an overview and assessment of the 5MSP and includes ICBL
documents and components of campaign and participant kits.
