Fourth Meeting of States Parties to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty

The "Fourth Meeting of States Parties to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty"
(4MSP) was held from 16-20 September 2002 in Geneva, Switzerland.
A total of 131 governments participated, making this the most widely
attended meeting of States Parties. Afghanistan, Angola and the
Democratic Republic of Congo joined the Mine Ban Treaty on the eve
of the meeting, demonstrating increasing acceptance of the global
norm against mine use since all three are heavily mine-affected and
had used antipersonnel mines in the recent past. This report includes
all official meeting documents, provides an overview and assessment
of the 4MSP and includes ICBL documents and components of
campaign and participant kits.
