The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) held the "NGO
Forum on Landmines" in Oslo, Norway, from 7-10 September 1997, at
the same time and around the corner from the diplomatic treaty
negotiations. Civil society participants identified activities for the
period leading to the signing ceremonyin December 1997, developed
strategies for ratification to ensure prompt entry into force and
examined the link between mine action programmes and long-term
development strategies. This report includes presentations by key
campaigners, workshop and panel session conclusions and the ICBL's
action plan.
