"New Steps For A Mine-Free Future," Report on the First International Conference on Landmines in Russia and the CIS
To encourage universalization of the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty in Russia
and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the International
Campaign to Ban Landmines and International Physicians for the
Prevention of Nuclear War organized the "First International
Conference on Landmines in Russia and the CIS," held in Moscow,
Russia, from 27-28 May 1998. This conference encouraged the
formation and development of country campaigns, especially in the
Caucuses. Included in this report are notes from plenary sessions and
a list of participants.
