Conducted and written between April and May 2001, this is an external
evaluation of Handicap International Belgium's Mine Awareness
Programmes that began in southern Afghanistan in 1996. The
programme was established to provide sustainable and appropriate
mine awareness to rural communities at high risk to mines and
unexploded ordnances and concludes that it continues to be an
innovative and effective programme.
