Mine Risk Education Standards

Endorsed in 2003, the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) are
now the guidelines in force for all United Nations (UN) mine action
operations. Once a national government adopts the standards, the
IMAS become legally binding guidelines for all mine action operations.
The "Mine Risk Education" (MRE) series of IMAS have been developed
to improve the quality of mine action programs and to ensure that
MRE can effectively meet the needs and priorities of the affected
communities. The MRE series includes the following titles: Guide for
the Management of MRE, Accreditation of MRE Agencies, Monitoring of
MRE Programmes, Assessment & Data Collection for MRE, Programme
Planning for MRE, Implementation of MRE Programmes and Evaluation
of MRE Programmes.
