Mine Action and Effective Coordination: The United Nations Policy
To enhance the ability of the United Nations (UN) to respond to mine
action needs in a coordinated, timely and effective manner, the UN
commissioned this report to outline its policy on mine action
coordination. Although questioned by the ICBL for its lack of clarity,
this paper was developed to summarize the main principles for UN
mine action and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the various
UN bodies engaged in mine action.
