Convention on Conventional Weapons (CCW)

Initially, the production and use of landmines was regulated and
restricted by the Convention on Conventional Weapons (CCW). In the
early 1990s, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL)
attempted to work with governments to include a ban on landmines
within the existing CCW. However, the reluctance of governments to
move towards a ban caused the ICBL to proceed campaigning for a
separate international landmine ban treaty. This is the text of the full
CCW, available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and
Spanish.
