Response to injury and disability due to antipersonnel landmine accidents

In 2000, Handicap International published a report on the needs of
victims in Mozambique, one of the world's most mine-affected
countries. With a great need for victim assistance care and support
services, the authors, Benedicte Mourou and Dr. Bernard Trouve,
systematically study and evaluate the conditions for victim assistance
in Mozambique. They conclude that there is a willingness to care for
war victims, including mine victims and also persons with disabilities in
general in Mozambique, but that the system is fragile due to
socioeconomic circumstances.
