Attaching "related" documents or files to your pages

Whenever you have more information that you want to add or attach as separate files or pages to another page you can make sub-pages or child articles. Please note that this is different from related articles (objects) which can be used to relate existing pages with each other.

Note that sub-pages and child articles can only be added to Articles or News Articles.

NB! To make the information as accessible as possible as much as possible of the information you want out should be posted as regular webpages or articles. So if the document is only to be read by the visitors you should post as a sub-article rather than as a file allthough both will be explained in this FAQ. Word documents should only rarely be attached on the public site and then only if the users will have a need to download and edit the documents.

Also remember that any news article or regular article has a PDF field where you can upload a PDF file with the page. This will automatically be available as a PDF icon on top of the article. If desired this link can also be used within the document by simply copying the link (right-click and "copy shortcut") on the pdf icon and inserting as a link on text in the page.

How to?

  1. Create and publish the article or news article where the files will be attached.
  2. Open the page where they will be attached.
NB! Do not open the page to edit it but just view it normally as a user.
  3. At the bottom of the page where it says "New" choose "Article" or "File" from the list then click "Create here"
  4. Edit and publish the page as you would do with regular articles

Once published the sub/child article will automatically list in the right column of its parent page or where it is attached. You can then use the link found there to add links in the text of the parent page if so is desired. Or, if you automatically want to list all sub-articles at the end of the page you can tick off "Show sub-articles/children at end".
