People

It is my strong belief that mines, which may be exploded by the presence or proximity of a person, are morally unacceptable. I fully support the convention on the prohibition of the use, stockpiling, transfer and production on anti-personnel mines and on their destruction.

Through their signature, governments promise to officially adopt and ratify the Ottawa Treaty and to comply with all of its terms. These include support for global demining work and assistance for mine victims. Through my signature on the People's treaty, I commit to working to ensure that governments keep these promises.

3954 people have signed the treaty.

the world has to accept that the time has come to rid the eveil that these things cause and not only to stop using them but to stop the production too, then and only then may the children of these countries prosper in play and education safely. then they can grow and maybe prosper, It is time that us people in the western world stopped making money from other peoples suffering and learnt that we can all live together and love each other, Because at the end of the day GOD loves us all equally and does not show favouratism like us mortals
GOD BLESS ALL WHO WORK SO HARD TO RID OF THIS EVIL BY RISKING THEIR LIVES AND BY SUPPORTING AND RUNNING THIS CAMPAIN

There is no excuse for such a hideous tool of war, which has clearly been designed to target innocent civilians rather than the evil perpertrators of war.
It is the twenty first century and there are far better, less violent ways of dealing with such problems that do nothing except destroy lives. Landmines resolve absolutely nothing, longterm they are a bigger problem than war itself, but seeing as they are all placed in thrid world countries that would hardly bother the powers that be.

Land mines are a sad excuse for a military tool. The corporations that profit from the manufacturing and selling of landmines should be held accountable for the injuries sustained and lives lost as a result of APMs.

The question of landmines was brought to my attention while on holiday in Laos and Cambodia at the end of 2006, and to realise that people die every day in these countries from landmines, and also we met victims of landmines, and I have come home determined to do what I can to make a difference.

Since World War II, the number of civilians killed and injured in various wars and conflicts has steadily and dramatically increased. The use of these weapons causes death and injuries to continue to be inflicted on civilians, even long after a war or conflict ends. This is technologically enhanced barbarism with a complete absence of ethics.
