9 April 2002 Archived Entry: "NEWS: Afghan Youth Take Action Against Mine Use in India and Pakistan"

The Afghan Campaign to Ban Landmines (ACBL), on behalf of the Afghan youth, drafted a letter titled to His Excellency Prime Minster of India Mr. A B Vajpayee. It was signed by hundreds of different categories of Afghan youths in Kabul who are engaged in different socio-economic affairs. The Afghan youth went to the Indain Embassy along with ACBL Coordinator to submit the letter the Indian embassy in Kabul.Through this letter Mr. Vajpayee was asked not to use landmines along LOC in Kashmir and along the International border between India and Pakistan and urged the Indian government to sign the Ottawa Landmine Ban Treaty.

It is hoped that i will inform you about the Afghan Youth involvement in the campaign against landmines and also about the miseries, difficulties and problems faced by the Afghan youth due to the presence of landmines in their country..
