Eight innocent children age between 7 and 15 years fell victim to cold-blooded unexploded ordinances (UXO). Five of them died on the spot while the other three were seriously injured. The horrific event took place on 9th February 2002 at Mula Aspanj village, Shindad district of Farah Province, Afghanistan. The incident occurred while the children were playing in the ground. This shows how much in danger are the lives of these young innocents due to the presence of these inhuman UXO and landmines.
We came to know about this tear-jerking event on 20th April 2002. The delay in receiving the information was due the remoteness of the place of incident. Afghan Campaign to Ban Landmines presents with sarrow this heartbreaking event to you so that the world community acknowledges the miseries of Afghan children are not yet over.
