23 October 2002 Archived Entry: "ACTION IDEA: Wear your message!"

I'm currently a junior in high school. We recently had an assembly about class rings. As I was looking
through the catalog of all of the different things that you could get on it I was having a hard time
choosing one. I was looking for something that would express myself at this point in my life, and I'm very big on the anti-landmine movement and I was looking for some way to show that.

One of the choices for the personalized side was an awareness ribbon and it dawned on me that that would be the perfect thing. I have noticed that when a person gets their class ring everyone wants to look at it. If the same holds true for me I'm sure I will recieve many questions about what it stands for and I'll be able to let them know about the landmine issue.

So, for those of you who are going to be getting class rings in the future and wish to spread the word, this is a suggestion of how to do so. Also, it will serve as a reminder every time you look at your ring. I hope I was able to give some of you a new idea or a new way of thinking of methods to show your interest.
