23 October 2002 Archived Entry: "UPCOMING EVENT: 9 December 2002, International Children's Day of Broadcasting"

Monday, 9 December 2002 is the International Children's Day of Broadcasting. This is a day for you to hit the air waves, radio waves, magazines and newspapers in your community and tell the world about the issues important to young people and what you're doing to move, shake and change the world!

What does this have to do with landmines? This is an excellent opportunity to contact your local media and let them know about how young people are affected by mines and what you are doing to work against landmines at home and around the world!

What can you do?

-Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.
-Click here for more information about writing letters.
-Send a press release to your local media saying that to celebrate the International Children's Day of Broadcasting you would like to draw attention to the work youth are doing to eliminate landmines.
-Hold a press conference.
-Publicize issues and events such as the Youth Against War Treaty, the 3 December Mine Ban Treaty signing anniversary or if you live in a Mine Ban Treaty non-signatory country urge your government to join the treaty! The list of issues to raise is endless!
