3. Call for Submissions: Resource Manual
===
Does your organization involve youth in advocacy work around landmines? Do you want to see your work and experience published? Mines Action Canada (MAC) and the Youth Mine Action Ambassador Program (YMAAP) are calling on ICBL national campaigns with experience in working with youth to contribute to the development of a unique international resource!
To complement and sustain the ICBL’s broader international youth programming, MAC and YMAAP are assembling the Youth In Mine Action Resource Manual, a reference for mine action campaigners working with youth.
Our goal is to create a dynamic, user-friendly resource packed with tested approaches to youth engagement from the mine action organizations that have done it best. Success stories, lessons learned, template documents, and practical advice will be offered by campaigners working in a variety of
political and cultural contexts. Content will focus on how to engage young people as contributing actors rather than as just targets of mine action, and the manual will be shared with all national campaigns as a means of strengthening the ICBL’s overall capacity to involve young people.
YMAAP is the focal point for collecting case studies, stories, and resource materials from ICBL partners interested in contributing to the project. YMAAP will also manage the editing and publication of the final package, and its translation from English into French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
Mine action campaigns that have successfully incorporated youth into any aspect of their programming will have their ideas and accomplishments documented and recognized, and disseminated to national campaigns around the world. We hope to launch the Youth in Mine Action Resource Manual this November at the Nairobi Summit on a Mine-Free World.
We invite your mine action organization to submit contributions for this unique, leading-edge resource as soon as possible. (See below for examples of how organizations might contribute).
Your comments and suggestions are welcome, and YMAAP invites interested parties to contact Michael Warren, Program Officer, at manual@dangermines.ca.
